PLEASE NOTE: All GP appointments are telephone consultations. If the GP wishes to see a patient they will invite them to attend the Surgery following a telephone consultation. Nursing appointments are available.
If you need to attend the surgery, you must now wear a face covering (over 5 years only). This can be as simple as a scarf or bandana covering your mouth and nose. Information on face coverings is available on the below link.
Please do not come to the Surgery if you have a high temperature, a new continuous cough, flu like symptoms or loss of taste or smell.
Help improve patient access to GP practices by completing a Digital Primary Care Survey
The practice nurses are available by appointment on 0191 2741840. The practice nurses offer:
District Nurses, Health Visitors and a Midwife is attached to the GP Surgery to support our patients.
The district nurses offer:
The health visitors are Leslie Galloway and Becky Humphreys . They provide support in child and family health. To contact them phone 0191 282 3319.
These no longer run in surgery. Ask your health visitor for information
The midwife provides:
Her contact number is given at the first antenatal appointment.
By appointment after referral by the doctor:
If you need emergency contraception please ask the receptionist and you will be seen the same day - alternatively you are able to visit one of the local Walk in Services.
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required. We will only provide NHS vaccinations, any private vaccinations will have to be sourced from a specialised travel clinic.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
