Please Note: Please only attend the Surgery if you have an appointment. A member of the Reception Team will check your temperature before allowing you access to the building. All enquiries are currently being dealt with by telephone. Thank you for your patience.

Coronavirus Update

PLEASE NOTE: All GP appointments are telephone consultations. If the GP wishes to see a patient they will invite them to attend the Surgery following a telephone consultation.   Nursing appointments are available.

If you need to attend the surgery, you must now wear a face covering (over 5 years only). This can be as simple as a scarf or bandana covering your mouth and nose. Information on face coverings is available on the below link.

Please do not come to the Surgery if you have a high temperature, a new continuous cough, flu like symptoms or loss of taste or smell.

The practice closes every Wednesday lunch time from 12:30 - 13:30 for staff development.

Practice Nurses

The practice nurses are available by appointment on 0191 2741840. The practice nurses offer:

  • Immunisations / Travel Advice
  • Blood Pressure checks
  • Blood & Urine Testing
  • Cervical Smears
  • Dressings/ Stitch Removal
  • Hormone Replacement Therapy reviews
  • Contraceptive advice & pill checks
  • Review appointments for asthma, chronic bronchitis, diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease

 

District Nurses, Health Visitors and a Midwife is attached to the GP Surgery to support our patients.

District Nurses

The district nurses offer:

  • nursing care and support in the home for housebound patients
  • arrangements for nursing cover at weekends and on Bank Holidays
  • continence advice and assessment
  • palliative care.

The health visitors are Leslie Galloway and Becky Humphreys . They provide support in child and family health.To contact them phone 0191 282 3319.

Baby Clinics

These no longer run in surgery. Ask your health visitor for information

Midwife

The midwife provides:

  • antenatal care for mothers
  • home visiting after delivery

Her contact number is given at the first antenatal appointment.

Other Services At The Practice

By appointment after referral by the doctor:

  • Counsellor
  • Community Mental Health Worker
  • Warfarin monitoring

Contraception

We provide:

  • the Pill
  • depot contraceptive injection
  • condoms for the under 25’s

If you need emergency contraception please ask the receptionist and you will be seen the same day - alternatively you are able to visit one of the local Walk in Services.
