NHS Direct  is a 24-hour telephone services staffed by nurses and health care advisers giving confidential advice and information. Telephone number: 0845-4747 (calls charged at local rates).You can also access information on the web site at NHS Direct.

NHS Direct has an online self help guide which you can use to find more information regarding symptoms.

There are 2 local NHS Walk-in Centres for minor injuries and ailments. One is next to the A&E department at Newcastle General Hospital and is open from 8 am to 10 pm every day. The other is near Central Station and is open from 7 am to 7 pm. An appointment is not needed. There is a wide range of available services.

The practice has a contract with Newcastle Primary Care Trust, from whom details of other primary health care services in the area may be obtained. The trust operates a Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS). You can talk to PALS for confidential advice and support for patients, families and their carers, as well as information on the NHS and health related matters.
